Sir Elton Speaks on EJAF, HIV for World AIDS Day

Sir Elton John gave a passionate and open interview to CNTV for World AIDS Day 2011. Elton spoke to anchor James Chau of the anguish he felt at the deaths of American teenager Ryan White and singer Freddie Mercury from AIDS related causes that prompted him to set-up the Elton John AIDS Foundation almost 20 years ago. "I thought, I've wasted all these years of my life... lost so many friends... I've got to do something now for people with AIDS." He also told of his dedication to fighting the disease and the challenges that must still be faced: "AIDS is the largest killer of women of child bearing age in the world" said Elton, "It's a treatable disease - it's not a stigma, it's not a disgrace. These days the outlook for people with HIV is so much better, they can have a normal life.”
