NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM SIR ELTON JOHN
24 January, 2011
London, UK
Happy 2011! As we begin another year I am thrilled and deeply grateful that the World AIDS Day issue of the Independent and ‘i’ newspapers that I guest edited on World AIDS Day (1st December) not only received huge readership but prompted over 26,000 people to visit this site – in one day alone!
As someone who is passionate about ensuring that the AIDS pandemic does not get left off the international agenda, it was wonderful to have the opportunity to champion this issue in the press. Many of the HIV projects featured in the paper have had offers of support, media coverage and partnership as a result.
You also bought prints of the Gary Hume’s beautiful image – ‘Duel’ – which we used on the Independent front cover for the issue (read more), and donated generously to our Cambodia appeal. (read more)
These pages will have many updates on our work, features on new projects and fundraising opportunities in the coming months, so please keep in touch.
In the meantime, I hope the coming year brings you health, happiness and prosperity and that you continue work with us and lend us your invaluable support.
Sir Elton John
