THE

FOUNDATION

AT WORK

In 2009/10 EJAF seeks to support programmes that demonstrate value for money and fully involve people living with HIV for which multi-year funding (up to 2012) is available:

Self-Management Programmes

We are seeking Ireland wide programmes that enable people diagnosed with HIV to manage their mental, physical and emotional health, be confident about disclosing their HIV status and reduce the risk of onward transmission of HIV. Programmes should demonstrate how they aim to measure the impact of their interventions on disclosure of HIV, improvements in health and lifestyle changes.

Organisations/Networks of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA)

We are seeking organisations and networks which empower PLWHA, enabling them to play a key role in the national response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, to develop evidence based advocacy around the needs of PLWHA, to challenge stigma and discrimination, champion PLWHA rights. Programmes should show clear measurement of impact at an individual, organisational and/or policy level as appropriate and anticipate how the programme will be sustained over the longer term.

Addressing the Needs of Injecting Drug Users (IDUs)

We are seeking programmes that aim to mitigate the impact of HIV/HCV on injecting drug users outside of Dublin, including enabling access to needle exchange, drug substitution and ARV treatment, adherence support and psychosocial/harm reduction support for serodiscordant couples.  Programmes should demonstrate how they aim to measure impact of their interventions, particularly for adherence, uptake of treatment, and HIV/HCV transmission.

NB:  All programmes will need to ensure that beneficiaries are central to the design and implementation of the programme and be able to demonstrate their impact on the beneficiary group.
