During the next strategic cycle, EJAF seeks to support programmes that demonstrate value for money and fully involve people living with HIV for which multi-year funding (up to 3 years) is available:
Gay and bisexual men living with HIV (MSM)
We are seeking UK wide collaborative programmes that enable MSM to manage their mental, physical and emotional health, be confident about disclosing their HIV status and reduce the risk of onward transmission of HIV. Programmes should make use of new technologies and demonstrate how they aim to measure the impact of their interventions, particularly in relation to increases in self esteem and disclosure to sexual partners and reductions in risk taking behaviour and unsafe sex.
Long Term Survivors and older people
We are seeking UK wide collaborative programmes that address the impact and social isolation of HIV on those who have been living with HIV for over 10 years and/or those aged over 50. Programmes should demonstrate how they would reach those in rural and low prevalence areas and how they aim to measure the impact of their interventions, especially in relation to reduction in social isolation and increases in HIV disclosure and use of non HIV statutory and voluntary social care services.
Employment and training
We are seeking UK wide collaborative programmes that enable people living with HIV to access training and support in order to gain employment, remain in employment and increase their income levels. Programmes should demonstrate how they aim to measure the impact of their interventions in relation to qualifications gained, reduction in unemployment levels, increases in income levels of people living with HIV and use of non HIV employment and training services.
Children affected by HIV
We are seeking UK wide collaborative programmes that address the needs of children infected and affected by HIV, their parents and carers. Programmes for children need to demonstrate a child centred approach. All programmes should demonstrate how they aim to measure the impact of their interventions in relation to benefits on the child, their families/carers and use of non HIV statutory and voluntary social care services.
Poverty and nutrition
We are seeking UK wide collaborative programmes that address the impact of poverty on people living with HIV in the UK. Programmes should demonstrate how they aim to measure the impact of their interventions in relation to improvements in living conditions, access to culturally appropriate nutrition and increased income levels.
Regional Grants Fund
EJAF also operates a regional grants programme open to collaborative regional HIV programmes addressing the above issues, particularly those operating in Brighton, the East of England, the Midlands, London, the North West, South Central, Yorkshire and the Humber areas. Programmes should demonstrate how they aim to measure the impact of their interventions.
NB: All programmes will need to ensure that beneficiaries are central to the design and implementation of the programme and be able to demonstrate their impact on the beneficiary group.
APPLYING FOR A GRANT
To be eligible to apply to us for a grant in the UK your project must fit within the strategy outlined here and you must be applying on behalf of a registered non-profit or charitable organisation.

a) What problem it seeks to address?
b) How it will address this – what activities etc?
c) Number and type of beneficiaries expected?
d) Definition of “success” for the programme?
There are no set deadlines for submission of this information.
