National AIDS Manual has always been at the forefront of providing information to people living with HIV/AIDS, clinicians and service providers throughout the UK. They use a host of media to disseminate accurate and accessible information on all issues relating to HIV/AIDS, including the AIDS Treatment Update (ATU) - an online and printed information resource aimed at increasing treatment knowledge and expertise among HIV positive communities.
Research shows that patients with access to up to date treatment information live longer and healthier lives and ATU has been a major part of providing this information since 1992.
Over recent years the style and content had become less attractive and NAM's own research indicated that it was not meeting the needs of all existing or potential readers. So, in 2005 EJAF, in conjuction with the Derek Butler Trust, funded the redesign and re-launch of the AIDS Treatment Update.
ATU is now one of the most attractive and readable expert patient publications available. NAM's research has shown that:
- 93% of readers found ATU helpful in making decisions about their health and treatment.
- Web downloads have increased by 90% with an average of 7,633 downloads per month.
